Description

Asiya, the Queen of Trouble – Daughter of Gaggo

A Sudden Realization

Inna Rabi exclaimed: “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihir raji’un! May Allah guide these children.”

She then entered her room, still shocked by Asiya and her behavior.

Asiya’s Boldness

Asiya, the queen of mischief and daughter of Gaggo, stood watching Shatu and Rabi.

She said, “So you’ll just stand there staring at me? Eyyye! Where’s my mango?”

And indeed, Asiya, daughter of Gogga, clearly demanded it from Rabi.

“Give me mine to choose, then everyone can take theirs,” she insisted, eyeing them closely.

Shatu smiled, “Yes, that’s how it is when you look this good.”

Asiya grabbed a mango and began eating when she noticed a boy selling bean cakes (awara).

She shouted, “Yes! God brought you here today! I swear I’ll beat you up today. Let’s go!”

They rushed toward the boy.

Asiya shouted, “Hey you! Come here, your mother is calling you.”

The boy replied, “By God, she’s not my mother,” staring at Asiya.

Asiya’s eyes bulged, “Eyyye! Then whose mother did I say?”

Rabi threatened, “I swear, we’ll deal with you right here.”

Even Shatu chimed in, “You dare disrespect us?”

Asiya added mockingly, “A fool on top, fool below!”

They snatched his bean cakes and ran far before stopping, laughing and panting.

Up a Mango Tree

They found a quiet spot, climbed up a mango tree, and settled there.

The boy fell to the ground crying and rolling around.

A passerby stopped and asked, “Hey Hafizu, are you okay? Why are you crying?”

Still crying, the boy said, “It was Asiya the troublemaker, daughter of Gaggo, they took my bean cakes. My mom said if I lost them, she’d beat me.”

The man shook his head.

“Well, you’ve fallen into her trap. That girl doesn’t listen to anyone. Innalillahi wa inna ilaihir raji’un, may God guide them,” he said.

A Dark Secret

Still up the mango tree, Rabi turned to Asiya:

“Do you guys know what I saw?”

Asiya replied, “No, tell us, what is it?”

“I saw the village chief’s son take a girl into his room and lock the door,” Rabi said, looking at both Asiya and Shatu.

Asiya erupted, “That scoundrel! Get up! Let’s go see what he’s up to.”

Shatu added, “Son of a street-born fool!”

They hurried to the chief's son’s room.

Asiya pressed her ear to the door and heard him whispering, “Don’t move, I don’t want to hurt you. You’re so sweet, with big...”

Asiya burst out, “That bastard! So he brings in different girls!”

Shatu agreed, “He’s going to pay for this.”

Asiya declared, “Let’s go home and come back, even at night. I swear we’ll scare him properly.”

“Let’s go home to Gaggo first,” they agreed.

Back Home with Gaggo

They rushed into Asiya’s house.

Gaggo saw them and asked, “Hey! What kind of entrance is this? No greeting, no respect?”

Asiya dismissed her, “I’m too hungry for greetings.” She sat down.

“You’re always going around beating up other people’s children?”

Asiya stood up, shouting, “Who told you that? Who’s the gossip?”

Gaggo replied, “I just know. Tss! May God guide you.”

“Amen!” they all said in chorus.

Gaggo was used to Asiya’s behavior. She asked, “Asiya, when last did you bathe?”

Asiya thought and replied, “I think... maybe five weeks ago?”

Innalillahi wa inna ilaihir raji’un!

Everyone was shocked.

“You haven't bathed in five weeks? No wonder you stink!”

Gaggo scolded, “You must bathe today before eating.”

Asiya cried dramatically in the middle of the compound, “Oh God, I’m dying!”

Gaggo watched her in disbelief:

“May God guide you. You lack good manners. If you were like your mother, you’d be okay.”

After much pressure, Asiya finally bathed.

When she came out, she glared at them:

“Why are you all staring at me?”

Shatu calmed her, “Come on now, we’ve got things to do.”

The Night Scare

When the Isha (night) call to prayer sounded, Asiya dressed up.

She wore a long white dress and added face powder until she looked ghostly.

She asked, “How do I look?”

Shatu replied, “You look like a real ghost! Hahaha.”

Rabi added, “Even the chief’s son will be scared!”

They all dressed up and headed to the chief’s son’s door.

Asiya covered her face with her hair, looking terrifying.

The chief’s son was fast asleep.

They entered his room and burst out laughing.

Asiya ordered, “Wake him up.”

Shatu hit him hard. He jumped up:

“Who’s there?!”

Asiya answered with a creepy voice, “We are ghosts. We’ve come for you.”

He started trembling. “Please! Mercy, ghost mother! I’ll change!”

“You’ve been warned about sleeping with girls!”

“Please! I’ll never do it again!” he cried.

“Teach him a lesson,” Asiya ordered.

They beat him until he peed himself.

“Tomorrow, go to the chief and confess,” Asiya warned.

“I swear I will!”

“If you don’t, we’ll come back.”

“I promise!”

“Then say thank you,” Asiya demanded.

“I thank you so much!”

“Now close your eyes!”

He did, and they ran out laughing.

Meanwhile, in Abuja

Saheeb lay on a soft bed, gazing at the ceiling.

He muttered, “Ugh, Ammi keeps annoying me about going to that village. God help me!”

Just then, a little girl rushed in:

“Uncle! Grandma is calling you!”

Saheeb smiled, “Hey my baby! When did you arrive?”

“Earlier. Uncle, where’s my candy?”

“Let’s go to Ammi,” he said, holding her hand.

In the living room, Ammi was sitting with another girl who looked like Saheeb.

The little girl ran ahead: “Grandma! Uncle is here!”

Saheeb came down and saw the girl, surprised:

“So we have a visitor?” he smiled.

The girl pouted, “You never visit us, so I’m mad at you.”

He laughed, “How could I forget my Humaeera, my little sister?”

Ammi, smiling, asked, “So, Saheeb, are you still upset with me?”

“Please, Ammi, stop talking about that village,” he said.

Ammi got serious: “You must go there. Don’t make me tell your father!”

He stormed off, angry:

“Tss! I hate that stupid village!”

Back in the Village – Kano

A beautiful light-skinned girl with long hair danced along the path, singing:

“Eyyye yaraye ah ah ah eyyye yaraye, let’s fall in love.”

She spotted Shatu ahead and stopped, reconsidering going to her house due to Shatu’s scary grandmother.

As she walked up, Shatu nervously greeted, “Hey Asiya daughter of Gaggo, where are you coming from?”

Asiya rolled her eyes, “I don’t know. But where’s my mango?”

Shatu said, “Rabi has it.”

Asiya snapped, “I don’t care! Let’s go get it. I swear, even if it's her intestines on the mango, I’ll still eat it!”

Shatu was startled, “What?! Her intestines? Why not just beat her up?”

Asiya replied, “Exactly! Let’s go!”

Shatu pleaded, “Please, I’m your favorite friend. Don’t be mad.”

Asiya gave in: “Okay. Let’s go to Rabi’s house. But if my mango’s bad, I’ll beat you both up.”

Shatu gulped. “Insha Allah, it’s fine!”

Chaos at Rabi’s House

They stormed into Rabi’s home without greeting.

A woman sat watching them rush in. Asiya didn’t even look at her and just shouted,

“Rabi! Rabi! Where are you?!”

The woman said, “Don’t you greet elders anymore?”

Asiya replied, “Why should I? Who said it’s compulsory?”

She rolled her eyes.

The woman muttered, “May God guide you. Always disrespectful.”

Rabi ran out with the mango in hand.
