Description

The Dogs’ Strange Cry

The loud cries of Lucky, Winston, and Copper—Michael’s dogs—were so intense that everyone in the house was shocked. Romeo was in his section working, while Dad had gone out to urgently assist Pastor so he wouldn’t die.

Copper’s cry terrified Tga and the others, for they had never heard such a haunting sound from the dogs before. Tga himself entered their room to check, but they refused to stop. He was left confused, unsure of what troubled them, since he had little knowledge about dogs or their behavior.

Romeo, though working on his laptop, felt his heart pounding. The cry from Copper and the others disturbed him deeply because, truly, they had never cried like this before. He dismissed it at first, thinking maybe Michael had upset them, but his racing heart kept reminding him of James as well. He continued his work nervously, biting his lips.

Then Brady suddenly rushed in, straight to Romeo, tugging at him and urging him with his mouth to come and see. Seeing Brady behave that way made Romeo realize something was wrong. Brady never interfered in others’ matters, not even with Copper and the rest—Romeo had trained him that way. If Brady made a move, it meant something was worth investigating.

Romeo immediately got up and followed Brady outside to see what was happening.

In the courtyard, he found Tga and the others standing still, staring at Lucky’s room. When they saw Romeo, they stepped back quietly, fear written all over their faces.

Romeo entered Lucky’s room directly. As soon as he stepped in, the dogs leapt onto him, clinging to his body and howling fiercely. Romeo knew them well—he had lived with them for 12 years, since Michael bought them as puppies. The four dogs were Brady (the eldest), Lucky, Copper, and Winston. Because Brady was bigger and more beautiful, Romeo had taken him as his own, leaving Michael with the other three. Romeo knew very well that these dogs never cried without a powerful reason.

In frustration, Romeo turned back and asked Tga, “Where is Michael?”

They looked around, searching as if realizing for the first time that Michael was missing. Romeo rushed out of the room, Lucky trying to follow him, but he quickly shut the door behind him and repeated, “I said, where is Michael? What happened to him?”

Fear spread across everyone’s faces at his words. They had heard Copper’s terrifying howl and knew something was wrong, but none of them had thought Michael might be in danger. Romeo, however, understood—dogs perceive beyond human senses, and Copper’s cry could not be meaningless.

The Shocking Discovery

Romeo hurried back inside, heading to Michael’s quarters, but Michael wasn’t there. He returned to his own section, grabbed his phone, and called Michael’s number. It rang continuously, but no answer.

He then opened his laptop, entered Michael’s number, and tracked it. The screen showed Michael’s phone was at Medstar Washington Hospital Center.

Romeo’s sharp blue eyes widened, glowing fiercely. He knew Michael had been home just recently—Michael had even slapped him earlier. So how could he now be in a hospital?

Romeo dropped the laptop, grabbed his phone, and rushed out of his bedroom. Immediately, he commanded his soldiers to prepare the vehicles to head to Medstar Washington Hospital Center.

The soldiers sprinted, boarding their armored trucks. Romeo entered his white Bugatti La Voiture. Together, they formed a convoy, engines roaring as they sped away.

Back home, Tga and the others were left in shock. They longed to know what was happening, but none had the courage to question Romeo. His furious face was enough to silence them.

When they reached the hospital, soldiers poured out of their trucks, surrounding the entire building with heavy weapons powerful enough to annihilate an army.

Romeo, followed by six armed guards, stormed inside, breathing heavily, fury visible on his face. People who glimpsed him quickly turned away in fear, even changing their paths. The terrifying soldiers at his back only deepened the dread.

They were led straight to the Chief Doctor’s office. Every staff member who saw their convoy had frozen in terror, hiding in their rooms. The hospital fell into silence.

Finally, the doctor guided them into Michael’s ward. Michael lay lifeless on the bed. His face was pale yellow, swollen, and covered in blood that flowed like a leaking pipe, soaking the mattress beneath him. One glance was enough to know he was gone.

Romeo stood at the bedside, staring as though in a dream. His eyes turned blood-red, eyelashes twitching rapidly with anguish. His veins bulged, sweat dripped from his temples, and his heart pounded like fire. His body trembled violently in rage and grief, his appearance transforming before their eyes.

Within moments, the news of Michael’s death spread throughout Washington DC, shaking the city to its core. Shops closed, schools suspended, and all activities stopped. Even the President addressed the nation, announcing a halt to everything because the General of the Army had lost one of his Triplet sons. The entire city fell silent.

Grief, Rage, and Tension

Romeo ordered that all TVs in the house be shut down and even confiscated Daddy’s phone to ensure he didn’t hear the news suddenly—it could kill him if told carelessly. Tga, who carried out the task, wept bitterly. Jay and John hadn’t heard the news yet; only Tga knew because Romeo told him after securing the house.

Romeo, however, refused to let Michael’s body be prepared for burial. He sat, staring at him, his eyes horrifyingly transformed. He couldn’t bring himself to move.

Soon, ministers, governors, and lawmakers flooded the hospital, but none dared approach Romeo. The grounds filled with official vehicles and heavy security. The President himself arrived, accompanied by his journalist brother. Only after Romeo permitted them were they allowed inside.

The journalist, thinking it harmless since he was with the President, raised his camera and asked Romeo, “Sir, can you tell us what state you were in when you saw your brother lying in blood like this?”

The President panicked, realizing his brother had made a grave mistake—Romeo had warned against any questions, only allowing photos. Before Romeo even moved, the soldiers pounced on the journalist, brutally beating him and smashing his camera. The President watched in horror, knowing only his intervention prevented them from killing his brother.

Romeo himself sat frozen, exhaling fiery breaths, unable to leave the room. He was like a dead man alive, paralyzed by grief.

The President gently touched his shoulder, trying to comfort him: “My lion, please… I know the pain is great. We all feel it. But be strong, as you always are. Allow Michael to be given proper rites. That’s what he needs now.”

Like a man possessed, Romeo spun around, seized the President by the throat, and roared: “No, Uncle! No! Michael is not dead! Stop calling him a corpse! He is not going anywhere!”

The entire room froze. Romeo had just choked the President of the country—his own grandfather’s younger brother—simply for suggesting Michael be buried.
